Sustainable Living AI Assistant —Meeting Earth Hero & Meeting Myself
🌸 Home of the SCETM Method, RISE SoftlyTM & C.A.L.M. RISETM Elements
Welcome to Week 1 of my Sustainable Living AI Assistant Series — a gentle, curious journey where I explore what happens when artificial intelligence meets the messy, beautiful reality of human habits.
Petal & Pixel has always been about the soft intersection of nature and technology, and this week, that intersection landed right in my pocket in the form of a new app:
Earth Hero.
I downloaded it with the same mix of excitement and mild dread that comes with any tool promising to “calculate your impact.” You know the feeling — that quiet fear that the numbers might reveal more than you want to admit.
But I also knew this was the beginning of something meaningful. Not perfection.
Not pressure. Just awareness.
And awareness is the first step toward any kind of transformation.
🌱 The Carbon Footprint Reality Check
The first thing Earth Hero did was generate a detailed carbon footprint report.
My number? 11.3 tonnes of CO₂e per year.
To put that into perspective:
The British average is around 7.8 tonnes
The global average is 5.1 tonnes
So yes — I’m above both.
But instead of spiralling into guilt, I decided to treat this as data, not judgement.
Earth Hero breaks everything down into categories, and seeing the numbers laid out so clearly was strangely grounding.
My biggest contributors were:
Land travel
Air travel
Food choices
Energy usage
New purchases
Waste habits
It wasn’t surprising, but it was clarifying. I could finally see the shape of my impact — not as a vague cloud of “I should do better,” but as something measurable, trackable, and changeable.
🌿 Why Earth Hero Fits Perfectly Into the Petal & Pixel World
Earth Hero isn’t just another sustainability app. It’s a gentle guide.
It doesn’t shame you. It doesn’t overwhelm you.
It simply shows you where you are and offers small, realistic steps forward.
And the best part?
It uses AI‑powered insights to help you understand your habits and track your progress.
This is exactly the kind of technology I love — tech that supports nature, not competes with it.
Tech that helps us become more aware, more intentional, more connected to the world around us.
It’s the same philosophy behind Petal & Pixel:
soft technology, gentle data, and nature‑aligned design.
🌼 Observation, Documentation & Honest Awareness
Earth Hero suggested that Week 1 should be all about introduction, documentation, and monitoring.
No big changes.
No dramatic lifestyle overhauls.
Just noticing.
So here’s what I’m doing this week:
1. Documenting My Current Habits
I’m tracking:
how often I drive
how much energy I use at home
what I eat
how much food I waste
what I buy
how often I recycle
how much rubbish I produce
Not to judge myself — but to understand myself.
2. Using the App’s Smart Monitors
Earth Hero has these clever little AI‑powered monitors that help you log habits without thinking too hard.
It feels like having a tiny sustainability assistant in my pocket.
3. Creating Guided AI Graphs
This is the part I’m most excited about.
The app can generate visual graphs that show your progress over time — a soft, aesthetic way to see your impact shrinking week by week.
It feels like watching your own sustainability story unfold.
🌸 Why This Matters (and Why I’m Sharing It)
I’m not doing this to become the perfect eco‑human.
I’m doing it because awareness is a form of care — for myself, for the planet, for the future.
And I’m sharing it because I know so many of us feel overwhelmed by sustainability.
We want to do better, but we don’t know where to start.
Week 1 is the start.
Not with pressure.
Not with guilt.
But with gentle curiosity.
🌿 What’s Coming next
Next week, I’ll be diving into something Earth Hero calls “secondary charges” — the hidden energy costs behind the things we use every day.
Think:
the energy behind your food
the energy behind your clothes
the energy behind your digital life
the energy behind your home
It’s going to be eye‑opening, and I can’t wait to share what I learn.
For now, I’m ending Week 1 with a sense of calm clarity.
Not because I’ve solved anything — but because I’ve finally started paying attention.
And that’s enough.
